The date's traceable public origin is John Ramirez, a retired CIA officer active on the interview circuit, who in a February 2023 Podcast UFO appearance warned of an alien revelation in 2027 and said he had "heard 2027 in kind of an official capacity I can't reveal." The claim spread rapidly through the community. In later interviews (by June 2025) Ramirez walked it back substantially, saying the 2027 concept originated in the channeling community, naming figures including experiencer Chris Bledsoe's circle and channeler Angelia Schultz as where the date circulated.

Reinforcing threads kept it alive: Luis Elizondo's book title Imminent and interview remarks were read (beyond his words) as pointing at a near date; remote-viewing-descended prediction culture (the Farsight-style genre the program's own veterans criticize) produced 2027 content; and the Barber-Skywatcher psionics wave carried insider-timeline talk into 2025. Community researchers also note mundane 2027s that may have contaminated the meme: U.S. Space Command readiness milestones and the "Davidson window" for Chinese action on Taiwan, both real defense-planning dates from the same interview ecosystem.
