Pleiadians

Human-looking beings from the Seven Sisters star cluster, according to Swiss contactee Billy Meier and a channeling literature that has grown for 50 years.

Reference note. This guide explains the basics of well-known UFO and UAP cases, people, and claims: what happened, who was involved, and what supporters and skeptics say. Milky Way News takes no position. Further investigation, skepticism, or belief is up to you.

01The Archetype

Pleiadians are described as tall, fair, blue-eyed, and physically indistinguishable from Earth humans, radiating a calm that contactees call almost tangible. In the lore they are spiritually advanced elder cousins of humanity, concerned with Earth's ecological and moral direction, communicating chiefly by telepathy about harmony with nature and a coming shift in consciousness. Their claimed home is the Pleiades cluster (M45), about 444 light years away.

02Origins in Lore

The defining case is Swiss farmer Eduard "Billy" Meier, who said his meetings with a Pleiadian woman named Semjase began in January 1975. Meier produced hundreds of pages of "contact notes" and over a thousand photographs and films of "beamships," building what is often described as the largest single contactee corpus ever assembled. His organization FIGU still promotes the material and its elaborations, in which the visitors are more precisely "Plejaren" from a dimension-shifted system. The channeling boom then carried the archetype far beyond Meier: Barbara Marciniak's Bringers of the Dawn (1992) and Barbara Hand Clow's The Pleiadian Agenda (1995) became New Age staples.

03Claimed Encounters

Meier's alleged contacts span decades and include claims of prophecy and space travel. Channeling practitioners worldwide claim ongoing Pleiadian communication, a genre that fills entire publishing categories. Nordic-type "Pleiadian" figures also surface in some experiencer accounts.

04Cultural Footprint

The Pleiadians are the flagship benevolent aliens of New Age culture, and the Pleiades' visibility in the night sky and presence in world mythology (the Seven Sisters appear in traditions from Greece to Japan to Aboriginal Australia) gives the lore an ancient-feeling anchor. Meier's crisp beamship photos remain among the most reproduced UFO images ever taken.

05The Skeptical View

Meier's evidence has been examined for decades: investigators, including former supporters, identified model-and-tree photography techniques, a "Semjase" portrait matching a television dancer, and prophecies written after the fact. The astronomy is also unkind: the Pleiades are hot, young stars roughly 100 million years old, far too young for native complex life by any standard model, a problem the lore answers with dimensional shifts. Skeptics classify the corpus as the most industrious photographic hoax in the field's history. FIGU and Meier's defenders maintain the images and metal samples remain unexplained. No independent evidence supports any Pleiadian contact.
