Ross Coulthart

Ross Coulthart is an Australian investigative journalist, formerly of 60 Minutes Australia and Four Corners, now special correspondent for NewsNation, where he has become one of the most prominent broadcast journalists covering UAP. His June 2023 interview with David Grusch brought the whistleblower's claims to television.

Coulthart built a decorated conventional career in Australian investigative journalism, with Walkley awards, before turning to the UAP subject around 2020 with his book In Plain Sight.

In Plain Sight (2021) reinvestigated the modern story from AATIP forward. His Grusch interview aired June 11, 2023, days after the Debrief article, and set the stage for the July hearing. In January 2025 he fronted NewsNation's Skywatcher special introducing Jake Barber. He hosts the Need to Know podcast with Bryce Zabel and has cultivated whistleblower sources he says cannot yet go public.

Coulthart relays sourced claims that go well beyond his broadcasts' proven material, most famously that a craft too large to move is concealed under a building, a claim he attributes to multiple sources and repeats with the caveat that he cannot prove it. His contribution is access: witnesses talk to him first, and his platform turned insider claims into a running television genre.
