Steven Greer
The ER physician who built the Disclosure Project, popularized CE5 meditation contact, and turned disclosure into a media enterprise trailed by scientific criticism.

01Who They Are
Steven Greer is a former emergency room physician and one of ufology's most prominent and most criticized figures. He founded CSETI and the Disclosure Project, popularized the CE5 human-initiated-contact protocol, and produces documentaries and events asserting that free-energy technology and alien contact are being suppressed.
02Background
Greer left emergency medicine in 1998 to pursue disclosure full time. He says he has briefed CIA directors, White House officials, and members of Congress, meetings partially corroborated in press coverage of his 1990s activity.
03Role in Ufology
His May 9, 2001 National Press Club event presented over 20 military and government witnesses calling for congressional hearings, a genuine landmark that prefigured the 2023 hearings. His CE5 protocols teach group meditation contact and support a popular app. Documentaries including Sirius (2013), Unacknowledged (2017), and The Lost Century (2023) reached large audiences. Sirius centered on the "Atacama humanoid," a six-inch skeleton later shown by Stanford genomic analysis to be a human fetus with skeletal dysplasias. His organization commissioned the radiocarbon testing associated with the Buga Sphere's 12,560-year claim, and he presented related material at 2025 press events.
04Key Claims and Contributions
Greer claims decades-deep unacknowledged programs, suppressed energy technology, staged-abduction operations, and reliable meditation-based contact. His documented contribution is the witness-assembly model and the disclosure vocabulary itself, which he did much to coin.
05Criticism and Controversy
Scientists and journalists have repeatedly traced Greer-promoted evidence to prosaic or misrepresented origins, the Atacama case above all. Even within ufology he is widely criticized for monetized retreats and unfalsifiable claims; skeptics cite him as the model of the disclosure-laundering pattern, where narrow technical reports are rebroadcast as validation of vast claims. Supporters credit his early witness work and note the 2001 event's foresight.
06Where They Are Now
Greer continues events, expeditions, and media through the PURSUE era, dismissing official processes as managed disclosure.
