Reference note. This guide explains the basics of well-known UFO and UAP cases, people, and claims: what happened, who was involved, and what supporters and skeptics say. Milky Way News takes no position. Further investigation, skepticism, or belief is up to you.

01Who They Are

Timothy Gallaudet is a retired U.S. Navy rear admiral, oceanographer, former commander of the Navy's Meteorology and Oceanography Command, and former acting administrator of NOAA. He is the senior-most voice pressing the underwater dimension of the UAP question, the USO problem.

02Background

Gallaudet holds a doctorate in oceanography from Scripps. His Navy career centered on operational ocean science; his NOAA tenure (2017-2019) capped a career inside exactly the agencies that map what lies beneath.

03Role in Ufology

Gallaudet has recounted that in 2015, while at Navy meteorology command, he received (and later found deleted) an email thread with the Go Fast video asking what the objects were, an account he gives as his entry point. Since retiring he has written and testified that transmedium and submerged unidentified objects are real data points the government ignores, authored the Sol Foundation paper "Beneath the Surface" (2024) urging USO research, supported pilots like Ryan Graves, appeared in congressional-adjacent panels, and joined expeditions and media examining underwater anomalies. He frames the gap bluntly: the ocean is less mapped than Mars, and something operates in it.

04Key Claims and Contributions

His verifiable contribution is agenda-setting: USOs entered serious policy vocabulary largely through his advocacy. His personal claims (the deleted email, sources describing water-transiting objects) are testimony consistent with, but not proven by, the public record.

05Criticism and Controversy

The email Gallaudet describes receiving and later finding gone from his system has not been publicly corroborated; he says classification, not absence, explains the gap. His record as a retired rear admiral and former NOAA administrator is not in dispute.

06Where They Are Now

Gallaudet runs his consultancy Ocean STL, publishes through the Sol Foundation orbit, and remains the USO question's standing advocate in the PURSUE era.
