Tau Cetians

Tau Cetians are described as human-passing and benevolent, cast as a counter-intelligence people: specialists in reading motive and detecting subterfuge, whose stated concern is warning humanity about subversion by other powers and corruption within its own institutions. In the lore they regard Grey abduction programs as a parasitic injustice against a younger species. Their claimed origins are Tau Ceti and Epsilon Eridani, both around 11 to 12 light years away.

Unusually for the taxonomy, the lineage traces to an investigation rather than a channeled catalog: researcher Frank Crawford's casework, published in the Spring 1991 UFO Journal of Facts, developed from witnesses reached through a lead from ufologist Stanton Friedman, in which contactees named Tau Ceti as the origin of a benevolent human-like people. Later taxonomies absorbed the identity.

Crawford's witness set is the substantive corpus, supplemented by scattered later claimants.

Tau Ceti's real astronomy keeps the address prestigious: a nearby Sun-like star with candidate planets, long a favorite of SETI target lists and science fiction, which lends the lore borrowed plausibility.

Skeptics note the corpus is small, testimonial, and shaped by its era's abduction narratives, with the whistleblower role reading as the period's distrust projected starward. The star's genuine habitability interest is irrelevant to whether anyone from there has visited. As with the taxonomy generally, the address is the most checkable part, and the only part astronomy can address.
