Ummites

Ummites are described as human-passing, of medium height, indistinguishable from Earth people except for unusual fingerprints: not abductors or saviors but a discreet scientific delegation living quietly on Earth, patient, precise, and preoccupied with correcting humanity's mathematical and physical misconceptions. Their claimed home is Ummo, a planet orbiting the red dwarf Wolf 424, 14.3 light years away.

From 1965 into the 1990s, researchers in Spain (and later France) received hundreds of typewritten letters, thousands of pages, describing Ummite science, philosophy, and their covert terrestrial life, each marked with the Ummite symbol. The corpus, documented by Antonio Ribera, structured a whole wing of European ufology. The letters are the encounter; a few claimed meetings with Ummite representatives rest on the same authorship.

The Ummite symbol and letters remain collector and study material, a French successor community persists, and physicist Jean-Pierre Petit has spent decades arguing that portions of the letters' physics anticipated later scientific developments, keeping a serious-minded residue of debate alive.

The confession, the debunked landing photos, and the corpus's traceable humanity settle the mainstream verdict: an authored experiment in belief. Petit's anticipated-physics claims are disputed by physicists who find the material derivative of contemporary literature. The Ummite endures as the demonstration that a sufficiently patient pen can be a spacecraft.
