Karl Nell

Karl Nell is a retired U.S. Army colonel with a career spanning aerospace industry (Bell Labs, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman) and military intelligence, including service with the UAP Task Force. He is the most senior named officer to publicly corroborate the substance of David Grusch's claims.

Nell's résumé includes West Point, engineering degrees, and program-management roles across defense and intelligence assignments. He worked alongside Grusch during the Task Force era.

In 2023, in statements accompanying the Debrief's Grusch reporting, Nell described Grusch as "beyond reproach" and affirmed his own assessment that the core claim, a decades-long race to exploit non-human technology, was accurate. At the May 2024 SALT iConnections conference, interviewed by Alex Klokus, he said "non-human intelligence exists, non-human intelligence has been interacting with humanity, this interaction is not new," calling it "an unequivocal fact," while noting zero direct evidence could be shown publicly and outlining a hypothetical decade-long disclosure roadmap. He has since advised disclosure-adjacent efforts and appeared at Sol Foundation events.

Nell's claims are testimony at the highest confidence register the movement possesses, offered by a career officer with document-checkable service. His contribution is corroboration: Grusch plus Nell is the modern case's two-officer core.

Skeptics note that certainty is not evidence, that Nell concedes he cannot show any, and that "trust the colonel" is the same epistemic structure the field has run on since Keyhoe. Some observers also note his framing arrived at investment conferences amid a growing UAP-adjacent funding scene. Supporters answer that officers of his record do not casually say "unequivocal" about career-ending subjects, and that his specificity invites the oversight he calls for.

Nell remains active in the disclosure-policy conversation through the PURSUE era, cited in nearly every serious survey of the whistleblower case.
